Student Composition (8 y/o)

One of my primary passions is helping aspiring songwriters, composers, and improvisers—people that want to bring new music into this world.

The way I look at it, the songwriter walks into my studio with their “soul” / taste / style already developed. It’s in their DNA!

What I’m here for is to develop their brain, hands, and ears to allow whatever’s in their head to be realized!

Today, I’m sharing a lovely piece written by one of my younger students. She’s just 8 years old, has been with me for 2 years, and I’ve overseen her musical education from the very beginning. Thus it’s extremely fulfilling for myself, her, and her parents to see the musician and artist she’s already grown into.

I guide some of the writing process and offer ideas, but she’s the artistic director that comes up with most of the notes and the form of the song.
